This Sound Wall training course will allow you to lean into the Science of Reading and start unlocking the essential phonemic awareness + phonics skills your students need to become skilled, confident readers.
You’ve done it. You’ve printed, laminated, cut, and displayed your sound wall!
You’re excited. You know the Science of Reading backs this approach. Sound walls aren’t just the shiny new thing in literacy—they’re a powerful tool rooted in evidence-based practice.
There’s just one thing standing in your way…
Figuring out how to use the sound wall practically requires its own decoder ring!
Where on Earth do you start? Vowels? Consonants? (Side note: what even are these things called fricatives and glides?) How do you introduce each sound?
You know a sound wall can transform your spelling, reading, and writing instruction. But how?
Hear that /s/ /cr/ /ee/ /m/ ? It’s the sound of uncertainty—but don’t worry, I got you!
The Science of Sound Walls is your complete, A-Z training and implementation plan for using a sound wall in your kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grade classroom.
A sound wall is a tool that supports students in matching sounds (phonemes) to symbols (graphemes). That’s critical for teaching students how to read based on the Science of Reading research.
But unless you and your students know how to use this valuable tool……
……it’s really nothing more than wallpaper.
That’s where the Science of Sound Walls training comes in. You’ll learn the science behind sound walls, and get explicit instructions on how to set up and use your sound wall.
Once you’ve taken the sound wall training course, you’ll be able to:
Transform your sound wall from wall-paper to wall-wonder that helps improve reading outcomes for ALL students
When you enroll in The Science of Sound Walls training, the complete course is immediately available to you! All you have to do is sign up, log in, and start learning.
Now that you have everything in place—it’s time to start using your sound wall! And in this module, you’ll discover exactly how to do that. No more guesswork or frantically searching through Science of Reading Facebook groups to answer the question “How do I implement a sound wall in my classroom?!”
You’ll learn a repeatable process for introducing new sounds throughout the year, according to whichever scope and sequence you want to use (I also provide one for you). You’ll understand how to incorporate your sound wall into your day, and how to instruct students to use it as their literacy skills grow.
In no time at all, you’ll be leading your students through the Vowel Valley so they can reach the heights of literacy success!

When I first stumbled into the Science of Reading (SoR) a few years ago, I immediately knew I was all in. There was no arguing with the research and evidence—in order to learn how to read, children need explicit, systematic instruction with multiple, frequent opportunities to practice new skills as they learn them.
There was just one problem. None of the evidence had been translated into curriculum that teachers could use right away!
If there’s one thing I know is true, it’s this: dedicated, caring teachers like you are BUSY! You don’t have time to sift through 5 decades’ worth of scientific papers just so you can prep and plan Tuesday’s literacy block.
You know who does have time? Me 😁My passion is for mentoring other teachers and creating resources that make teaching easier! I couldn’t wait to dive into SoR!
Since then, I’ve taken 100+ hours of professional training, including The Reading Teacher’s Top Ten Tools. I’m in the process of completing the LETRS® (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) Training, and I’m a member of The Reading Science Academy…all so I can support teachers like you with SoR-aligned curriculum, resources, activities, centers, lessons, and more.
