Updated 8/23: Mini units added for suffix word endings (-s, -ing, ed), soft c & soft g, suffix -er & -est, plural change y to ies, prefixes & other suffixes.
Word study units are different from traditional spelling units. Instead of giving students a list of words to memorize each week, these word study units focus on a specific phonics skill. Students are given explicit instruction on the phonics pattern and then have activities throughout the week that allow them to practice the phonics skill, and investigate and discover the patterns in words.

Love how this resource has different options for every week OR you could use the same routine over the course of many weeks. I am also teaching a Grade 2/3 split class so I loved that you have both a second AND third grade option so that the children can be doing the same activities at the same time, but with words at their level. I also love how there is a full word list (for the year) and what the weekly focus is at the beginning of the resource! The only thing I would add is a full-page copy (instead of just two copies per page) of each activity for those of us who use duo tangs instead of notebooks. Thanks for the thoroughness of this resource!
