Word study units are different from traditional spelling units.  Instead of giving students a list of words to memorize each week, these word study units focus on a specific phonics skill.  Students are given explicit instruction on the phonics pattern and then have activities throughout the week that allow them to practice the phonics skill, and investigate and discover the patterns in words.

    This is a great product, but I wish a take home list had been provided for students.

      Hi Amber- thanks for your feedback! I use the 1st grade program- I share with parents at BTS night a sample of the word list activities and tell them to be in the lookout for it on Monday with their child (completed in class after new spelling pattern is taught). I also list the words on our weekly HW newsletter. Hope this helps! 🙂
