This is a wonderful resource. My student absolutely beside their self when I told them they were going to get to adopt a reading pet. Even the parents got involved. This was a great way to increase my reading scores and get students excited about reading.

This is a fabulous resource. I am a librarian, and I used this resource for my December reading challenge. The students were so excited to adopt a pet and take them home as their reading buddy. Originally, I was just going to use this resource for the Kindergarten- Grade 3 classes but I ended up using it with all the Elementary classes because they were all so excited to take part. Everyone was excited to pick a pet and sign out books to read with their pet which was a win for everybody. I received mixed feedback from parents as some were upset because they didn’t want more stuffed animals and others were singing the highest praise as they loved seeing their student curled up with their new pet, reading a book. It was a win for me as I had a large supply of stuffed animals that my kids had not looked at for years, so it helped to gift that to the adoption center. It also increased circulation in the library because they wanted to take extra books to read with their pet. They learned to search for certain genres of books in the library. I would highly recommend this resource to others.
