More About This Resource
Junie B. First Grader Jingle Bells, Batman Smells Text Dependent Reading Response Unit
I created and use this packet of reading response comprehension questions to use with my “independent” readers who are ready to dig deeper into what they are reading. Junie B. First Grader Jingle Bells, Batman Smells! (P.S. So Does May.) is a 2.5 reading level.
Students will: write responses to text dependent questions about key details in the text, apply their knowledge to new situations, make inferences and draw conclusions, participate in collaborative conversations about key details in the text, and learn new vocabulary words embedded in the text. Students can also use graphic organizers to cite evidence of character traits.
Included in this unit:
-suggestions on how to manage the unit with your small group
-11 printable student response sheets (1 per chapter & 1 end of book response)
-4 graphic organizers for character traits study
-Common Core Standards

I love that you included vocabulary, text specific questions, and questions that require them to make a connections to the text on each sheet. I’m a SPED/Resource teacher and this will be perfect for a couple of my students who are loving reading and listening to Junie B Jones.
