More About This Resource
This Sound Wall with Mouth Pictures & Sound Wall Locks is a comprehensive, Science of Reading-aligned tool designed to help students master phoneme awareness and phonics. Unlike traditional word walls, this sound wall organizes words by sounds (phonemes) rather than alphabetical order, providing students with a more effective reference when reading and spelling. I had a different sound wall that I was using that was more primary based, but this year, I have students who needed a more advanced sound wall for reading and writing. This was an excellent purchase as it gave me a way to provide additional information for my more advanced students.

A very detailed resource, with lots of pieces/elements included! I particularly appreciate the mouth placement cards, and the updated photos being more diverse. The simple addition of the locks for not-yet-taught phonemes was highly engaging for my students, as we unlocked each sound together. We certainly don’t use the full scope of this resource in kindergarten, but I enjoyed seeing how my students interacted with it, as well as catching glimpses of how it could extend to support older students in more advanced learning.

I was nervous to make the switch to a Sound Wall in my classroom this year, but Christina’s summer PD inspired me. Using the lessons and these visuals, we have been working on learning the patterns for spelling and I find my students referencing the wall regularly. Thanks for making my first attempt at a Sound Wall successful due to your PD and this great product!

This sound wall sits directly in front of my students when they are at my small group table. They use this resource to help them remember sounds as they decode and encode. My speech students use the mouth cards as reminders when producing the sounds they struggle with. I use the mouth pictures as well when introducing (and reviewing) the different phonics sounds.
