More About This Resource
This Sound Wall with Mouth Pictures & Sound Wall Locks is a comprehensive, Science of Reading-aligned tool designed to help students master phoneme awareness and phonics. Unlike traditional word walls, this sound wall organizes words by sounds (phonemes) rather than alphabetical order, providing students with a more effective reference when reading and spelling. With mouth articulation pictures representing diverse children and sound wall locks to secure student engagement, this resource offers an interactive, research-based approach to phonics instruction.
The sound wall includes all the materials needed to systematically teach phonemes, making it perfect for educators who want to align their instruction with Science of Reading best practices, such as those suggested by LETRS. Excellent resource! I love the sound card pictures. By the end of the year my SK/1 class was beginning to refer to it to help them with their writing. Downside: I’m still trying to wrap my head around some of the vowels in the vowel valley. I also am not a huge fan of teaching my students the phonetic alphabet. Instead I posted the most common grapheme on the larger coloured square.

The students and I loved all the diverse faces. I was able to use the pictures along with the sound spelling cards from my Wonders curriculum to create a sound wall. The students and I found it helpful.

I LOVE this resource. As a reading intervention specialist and new SOR convert, I was super excited to find this- there is SO MUCH in here, and so many options to make it work for any room/situation. The mouth pictures were sooooooo helpful when we were all in masks. It was so awesome to see struggling students actually REFER to the sound wall when they were writing!

Of all the sound walls I’ve seen. This has been by far my favorite. Christina has the resources and research to back her resources and I truly appreciate that. She is always willing to help answer questions about her resources.

Love this resource. So many people have comment on it up in my room. We love to reflect back on mouth cards and use vowel pictures everyday.
