Vowel Anchor Charts & Phonics Dictionary
I created these short and long vowel anchor charts to use in my classroom as a tool for my 1st graders as we learn short and long vowel spelling patterns. I have found my students refer to them constantly especially while writing words with tricky long vowel spelling patterns. In addition, there are small desk strips to use on folders, small group word work, or any way you see fit.
Also included is a phonics dictionary that has lists of words grouped by phonetic patterns as a quick bank for practice. This can be used in many ways: whole group as you introduce and practice new spelling patterns, small group word work, fluency reading, to make word sorts for independent practice, as a tool to give parent volunteers to help review skills with students, etc. Each list has words with different levels of difficulty to best meet the needs of your class/group.
