We absolutely LOVED the CVC (long/short vowel) word ladders! We used the digital version as a class lesson and had the whole class involved. All students were eager to participate, to tell us what the picture was, and to think about which letter moves up and which letter changes! This was great printing practice, and excellent sounding out/stretching out word practice. The CVC words work great in kindergarten as we are working on isolating our beginning sounds as well as our ending sounds! The children loved when I revealed the answers at the end to see if ours all matched!!! I would definitely recommend the digital version for kindergarten! We have the printable versions too for individual work, they can be used with letter tiles or the students can print directly onto the paper! We LOVE using letter tiles for this activity as we can actually move them and change them!

Word ladders are such great practice for my students. The visual of seeing the letters change places really helps them see those sounds make new words. I love how it is an actual ladder we climb during the activity. The best part of these for the teacher is that they come with both print and digital. I’m not running around scanning and displaying. It is already done for me. The answer key is right there for us, so I don’t need to spend even an extra second of precious time on task double checking something. Christina thinks of every detail! There are so many options. You will not be disappointed.

These are so great. I only used the print version last year but plan on putting them all in Seesaw for this next school year. The picture with each word really helps connect meaning and my kids get so excited they can figure out the word on their own.

I started using these ladders as soon as I bought them. The students did the first one with me and begged to do a second the same day. I am now using them in Centers. I love using them over for my strugglers and letting my strong readers fly on their own. I am using them in intervention also. When you have something the kids are asking for, you know you have a winner! This was a win of a purchase! (First Grade)

Word ladders are another great SoR activity that my students love. Administrators love them as they are SoR. I love them because they help us all be successful in our jobs of teaching, basics of reading, and writing. Bringing speech to print, which is so valuable in kindergarten. Thank you Christina for helping me teach skilled readers from the ground up.

Fantastic resource. I love that there is the printable and digital copy. This allows for whole class instruction, and then individual practice during literacy centres. I have also assigned certain pages to students on Google Classroom. The pictures allow students to be successful and it also helps build vocabulary for my ELL students, which are 2/3 of my class!

These word ladders are great! I use them in small group first, to get the students comfortable with doing them, and then use them as a literacy center for extra practice. I love how it encourages thinking of how words are connected to each other – switch one sound and you get a different word! Plus points that it comes with both printed and digital! I haven’t used the digital yet, but I plan to try it out soon on seesaw.
