The Science of Reading is a body of research conducted over the last five decades that provides us with valuable information on how students learn to read. Unfortunately, teachers have not always had access to this important information. I’m so glad you’re here. I’m a former 1st grade & mentor teacher, founder of Lead in Literacy. You might say I was born to be a teacher. Even as a child, I knew I wanted to teach and inspire young minds. (Was I the girl who taught her stuffed animals the alphabet? You bet!) I’m proud to say I’m a first-generation college graduate who went on to get my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Like many teachers, I am a lifelong learner! That’s why I’ve completed LETRS®, The Reading Teacher’s Top 10 Tools, and countless other literacy related trainings. I believe EVERY student deserves to grow and thrive—and that starts with empowering their teachers with professional development training and literacy resources that are evidence-based, effective, and engaging.
