Updated 8/23: Mini units added for suffix word endings (-s, -ing, ed), soft c & soft g, suffix -er & -est, plural change y to ies, prefixes & other suffixes.
Word study units are different from traditional spelling units. Instead of giving students a list of words to memorize each week, these word study units focus on a specific phonics skill. Students are given explicit instruction on the phonics pattern and then have activities throughout the week that allow them to practice the phonics skill, and investigate and discover the patterns in words.

This resource has been life changing in my class. I use this for my individual groups as the groups all have different phonic focus skills they are working on and this is great. Once I had it all set up and ready to go it has really been a great part of my language program.

I was looking for meaningful phonics practice that would align to the science of reading. I’ve been using this resource for the past few weeks and it’s been great and easy to implement into our phonics routine each day. I also appreciate an editable file that includes specific words. Thank you!
