More About This Resource
Teach second-grade students to spell with these Science of Reading-aligned, NO PREP, weekly Word Study Assessments. This YEAR LONG word study resource includes a master list of weekly word study units, a systematic & explicit phonics scope and sequence, assessments for each unit, (EDITABLE templates included), and teacher answer guide!
⭐️⭐️ SAVE $$$ – 20% OFF 2nd Grade Word Study Bundle ⭐️⭐️
Word study units are different from traditional spelling units. Instead of giving students a list of words to memorize each week, these word study units focus on a specific phonics skill. Students are given explicit instruction on the phonics pattern and then have activities throughout the week that allow them to practice the phonics skill, and investigate and discover the patterns in words.
Included in this resource:
- A research-based, SoR-aligned Phonics Scope & Sequence
- Master Word List
- Assessments for Each Unit (includes, word dictation, sentence dictation and spelling error analysis)
- EDITABLE Printable Templates
- Teacher Assessment Guide
Note: This resource only includes assessments and other items listed above. Want more than just assessments? Check out my yearlong word study BUNDLE for student printables & more: 2nd Grade Word Study Bundle

I love these tests, especially where they have to fix the mistakes. I do wish the lines were a little bigger for the kids to write in.

Spanish K-9 –
I thought I could create my own assessment. The only things that are editable are the two sentences on the bottom. I’m a dual teacher and I need to write the directions in Spanish too. Unfortunately, I can’t do it.
