Word study units are different from traditional spelling units. Instead of giving students a list of words to memorize each week, these word study units focus on a specific phonics skill. Students are given explicit instruction on the phonics pattern and then have activities throughout the week that allow them to practice the phonics skill, and investigate and discover the patterns in words.
Included in this resource:
- A research-based, SoR-aligned Scope and Sequence
- Master Word Study List
- Word Study Teacher Guide
- Word cards

Great spelling list for average spellers. My daughter is in third and not a strong speller so these lists are perfect. We do one each week. Each is based on a theme (like long o). There are customizable worksheets where you put in the spelling list and it populates the worksheets. She likes the secret code on and the make your own search and find the best. My one request would be more worksheets. We are 4 lists in and I feel like she’s already wanting something new. My daughter is doing distance learning, but I am supplementing with TPT resources.

Words are not super challenging for 3rd graders, but there are lots of fun activities that are editable to apply to other lists.

Great resource! Lots of options for how to use it. I would love it if included a data tracking sheet for the assessments.

Perfect for my 3rd grader, easy to use!

My third grader loves the variety in spelling activities with this bundle! I love that we can practice cursive writing while practicing the spelling words. It allows us to get us two things accomplished at once. This bundle is such a great deal and so easy to use! I love the editable lists so that I can make duplicates of any activities or create my own lists based upon our spelling unit.

I am using this to support my spelling program. Especially like the way each list is focused on a phonics skill.

Thank you for creating this resource.

I used this to teach my child with ADHD and APD. Wonderful list and was great as a starting off point. If you are using this as a resource to teach students with learning difficulties such as ADHD, APD and dyslexia other resources will be needed.
