Updated: Now includes the beginning of the year spelling screener to determine where in the scope & sequence to begin word study with your students! 8/26/2022
Word study units are different from traditional spelling units. Instead of giving students a list of words to memorize each week, these word study units focus on a specific phonics skill. Students are given explicit instruction on the phonics pattern and then have activities throughout the week that allow them to practice the phonics skill, and investigate and discover the patterns in words.

Wonderful for small groups and if you tutor any students.

This has been so helpful for my lower students who need assistance with spelling!
Meridith K. –
I loved this resource. Former classroom teacher now homeschooling my 4th grader, who had several gaps in his learning. The assessment was great, and made it easy to know where to start with him. I love that he is studying the words, not just writing them over and over.

A wonderful resource aligned with SOR! I have switched, midyear, to this resource because I believe in it so strongly!
Nikki M. –
I love this resource as our curriculum does not have a word study component for upper grades.
Amy B. –
These word work activities were just the thing for my 3rd graders. The extra practice they provided was helpful for them.

I love this resource. I like that I have a letter to send home with students so their families know what skills they are working on and how to help them. I think it is great to be able to check the phonics skill, not just memorizing a list of words. I wish there were more activities for each skill as most of the time it will take more than one week to master a phonics skill. It would be nice to have different stets for each skill.
