More About This Resource
This Sound Wall with Mouth Pictures & Sound Wall Locks is a comprehensive, Science of Reading-aligned tool designed to help students master phoneme awareness and phonics. Unlike traditional word walls, this sound wall organizes words by sounds (phonemes) rather than alphabetical order, providing students with a more effective reference when reading and spelling. This is my third year using this sound wall and I love it! It is so well thought through. The mouths are realistic and represent a variety of students. The picture cards are things my students can understand. I appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into picking images that are obvious and not easily mistaken for anything else. I love how the cards have the description for how the sound is made on the back and multiple examples where the sound is made (again these were obviously thought out with all words following the sound exactly). It aligned perfectly with the science of reading and often goes into much more detail for producing the sounds than my required curriculum does. I’ve had multiple adults in the room while I am teaching comment on how they wish they had learned like this as kids and how they are understanding more about letter sounds just from the sound wall alone. I cannot recommend this sound wall enough and have sent multiple teachers in our district to this one after seeing it in my classroom. If you are on the fence or going back and forth between several options, buy this one. You will not regret it.

I am still in the process of assembling my sound wall. However, I am really excited to use it due to the mouth pictures for the sounds. I believe it will be a helpful resource for my kindergarteners as they begin to learn to read.
