More About This Resource
This Sound Wall with Mouth Pictures & Sound Wall Locks is a comprehensive, Science of Reading-aligned tool designed to help students master phoneme awareness and phonics. Unlike traditional word walls, this sound wall organizes words by sounds (phonemes) rather than alphabetical order, providing students with a more effective reference when reading and spelling. With mouth articulation pictures representing diverse children and sound wall locks to secure student engagement, this resource offers an interactive, research-based approach to phonics instruction.
The sound wall includes all the materials needed to systematically teach phonemes, making it perfect for educators who want to align their instruction with Science of Reading best practices, such as those suggested by LETRS. Whether used in print or digitally via Google Slides, this resource offers versatility in the classroom.

I will be very honest, I haven’t done much teaching with this resource as this year has been so demanding and irregular. However, every single person who comes in my classroom is intrigued and asks me about it! I’m excited to dive in next year and really use this resource to strengthen my foundational skills instruction.

Great!

I love how thorough this resource is. One problem is, you need a LOT of wall space to be able to hang up this resource. Great to have though for students to reference.

Hard to find a few things that she references, but I love the colored pictures of the children’s mouths with diverse pictures.

I wish this is something our WHOLE primary division would use starting at JK, so the teaching and transition to new grades is consistent, reaches all learners, and improves the reading achievement gaps we see.

I bough this product first, then fell in love with all of your products. I cannot begin to explain how helpful the sound wall has been for me and my students. Living in masks is hard enough, but teaching phonics… impossible! We are constantly referring back to the sound wall and practicing getting our moths ready to make each sound using the mouth picture cards in this product. Thank you so much for all of your hard work.

I love that my students have a visual for each sound. Before I even introduced the sound wall I had students going over and trying to mimic the mouth shapes they were seeing. I cannot say enough about how helpful this resource is, especially in these mask-wearing times.

This is such a great resource for kindergarten students.

This was my first year setting up a sound wall. I’ve been planning it since last school year and I was so excited to get everything printed, laminate, and up on the wall! It’s a very time consuming process to get every prepared and displayed, but it looks amazing! We still have a mask mandate in place so I haven’t yet had the opportunity to use it quite the way that I’d envisioned, but the students are engaging with it regardless. I plan to buy the sound wall lessons from Mrs. Winter’s Bliss and hope to make my instruction around the sound wall more explicit next year. My only complaint is that a few of the mouth pictures did not correctly represent the sounds that they are supposed to…My SLP confirmed my thoughts about this. However, I have not reached out to the author to ask about this, so it is possible that they’re correct in a more updated version of the files.
