  1. Katrina L. –

My students love this resource. They are asking more questions about the mouths and how the sound wall works. It has also sparked up so much conversations. It is awesome!

  2. Natalie B. –

I love this resource. My students and I refer to our sound wall daily. Thank you for creating such a useful product and sharing it with others!

  3. Over the Rainbow –

After a lot of research, I decided to purchase your product. I love how you display your cards and the mouths that go with it. Together as a class, we come up with the words for each sound when we teach it and I add it to the wall. I really like this resource and it will definitely stay on my wall for years to come. Thank you for including the extra information to help teachers understand each sound as well!

  4. Stephanie H. –

This is my first time using a sound wall. I have been wanting to try one out and so glad that I did. I really like that it has pictures for the students to look at.

  5. The First Grade Teacher –

It is so hard to know what is the ‘right’ sound wall to choose. I felt like this one is perfect simple and straight to the point, the mouth cards to help my students see how to make the sound are used all the time. THANK YOU!

  13. WINR What I Need Resources –

This resource is awesome! It’s a bit time-consuming to make into 2 posters for the classroom, but I’ve found a way to make it a bit less cutting.

Print everything but the poster headings as 2-pages-to-1. This will help it fit on a tri-fold cardboard-sized paper area. Then organize each sound and find all the pieces. Tape, on the back, the mouth card, sound, card, picture/spelling card, and word cards in a verticle line or shape that fits your space. Organize the word cards by the spelling pattern on the picture/spelling card. Once you get all those combined, then laminate those. WAY less cutting this way. I do the same thing for the Consonant Sound Wall too, only I group some sounds in clusters (like the p & b, t & d, and k & g, ch & j, m & n & ng, f & v, th & th, s & z, sh & zh, and hw & w, the others I leave on their own. Once all are laminated and cut, I then tape it to a colored sheet of paper using rolls of tape. You can use glue too if you want. I did this because if the paper fades I want to be able to easily change it out. I have hot-glued the poster to the wall.

The teacher “how this sound is formed” cards I printed 2-pages-to-1-page so that I could put them on a ring to flip. I made one set for the vowels and one for the consonants. I did laminate those too.

For the students, I printed the student copies pages and gave them the sounds walls without the word cards and with the words printed under the sound. That way if they can’t see the posters they can reference their handouts. Not the ones they had to fill in, but the completed ones.

The kids I have used this with are 1st & 2nd graders, 3rd is next. The 2nd graders are currently using it and trying to use it on their own to help them make sense of words and improve their spelling skills. I really like teaching them the mouth positions too and having them look in mirrors to see their mouth. 1st grade is just being introduced to it. They are being integrated with an Orton-Gillingham lesson and spelling rules. We are just starting this rollout, so I cannot speak to its effectiveness yet or how it is working with integration, but I feel this should work to improve the reading & spelling skills of our kiddos significantly. As the interventionist, I see a lack of understanding of how the English Code works in students through HS, compounding the problem as students get older….This program should help students learn the code and use the code. This type of learning is also very beneficial to all students, not just those that would learn it no matter what program you use.

I would highly recommend this resource and would purchase it again. I just found out there’s an update with Google slides with 60 pages of activities for kids to do!
