Sequence Writing Prompts – Plant and Animal Life Cycles
My students are so successful at writing using these story sequence writing prompts! For this activity, writers use the 5 sequence picture cards to order events, then they can use the transition words and specific story vocabulary words to tell their story.

Included with each writing printable is a “Good Writers” editing checklist reminder at the bottom of the paper. I have also included a basic sight word list to post in your writing center to assist with those tricky words. These prompts naturally differentiate your writing center. Even my most emergent, timid writers shine using them!

My students loved this resource. It was so engaging to read, sequence and write about the life cycle of insects, animals, and plants. I used this as face to face teaching and I am super excited to be able to use the digital format this year. Thanks so much! I know you’ll love it as much as I do.

This worked great as a distance learning writing prompt. It provided the scaffold needed to assist my students as needed.

The drag and drop pictures for the life cycles created a great visual and plan for students to write about. The word banks were thorough and included necessary vocabulary. It was well organized all on one page for easy accessibility for students. This worked really well for an assignment for my students who are learning online. I created separate lesson slides to introduce explanation texts, but I was also able to use these slides for a modelled/shared write. Great resource!
