Sequence Writing Prompts – Summer
My students are so successful at writing using these story sequence writing prompts! For this activity, writers use the 4 sequence picture cards to order events, then they can use the transition words and specific story vocabulary words to tell their story. Included with the color pictures writing printable is a “Good Writers” editing checklist reminder at the bottom of the paper. I have also included a basic sight word list to post in your writing center to assist with those tricky words. These prompts naturally differentiate your writing center. Even my most emergent, timid writers shine using them!

This sequence writing file was very helpful to me to incorporate writing in my centers. Some students worked independently and some students worked with me in a small group. We would start by using the four sequence picture cards and placed them in order. Then we used the transition words to match the cards. We wrote a story together using the specific story vocabulary. Even though this file is titled a summer file, I used it during the year based on my students’ interest.
