More About This Resource

⭐️ SAVE 20% on the Yearlong Bundle here! ⭐️
Each sentence is a phonics-based controlled text sentence that contains target phonics skill words, previously taught phonics skill words, and irregular high-frequency words. The science of reading shows us that the connection between what our students learn in phonics and what they read & write is imperative for building a strong foundation in early reading!
In this activity, students move around the room with their recording sheet to read & write decodable sentences. There are 2 differentiated versions of each sentence that can be hung side by side throughout the classroom. Level one sentences follow a 1st grade phonics scope & sequence and Level two sentences follow a 2nd grade phonics scope & sequence. Students are taught to record the version of the sentence they can decode. They must also match each sentence to the correct picture on their recording sheet as a self check for decoding skills.
The FULL RESOURCE includes:
- 420 total decodable sentences

I got the free version first but now I am getting the full paid version. This is a wonderful resource for kindergarten classrooms! The activities are engaging, easy to use, and developmentally appropriate for young learners. My students stayed interested and were excited to participate. The instructions are clear, and it fits well into both whole-group and small-group lessons. It’s a great way to support early learning while keeping students motivated and having fun. I highly recommend this resource for any kindergarten teacher!

I love having a different variation of write the room for my first graders. They love this activity when we do it with words so doing it with a sentence provides a challenge. I will often have them identify heart words or sight words within sentences too.
