More About This Resource
This science of reading-aligned resource contains 60 decodable passages with comprehension questions and is perfect for beginning readers. Each passage is a phonics-based controlled text that contains target phonics skill words, previously taught words and irregular high frequency words. The resource is aligned to a research-based, systematic, phonics scope and sequence andincludes explicit lesson plans for each passage, as well as activities for before, during and after reading.
If you already own my decodable books with comprehension questions, these decodable passages with comprehension questions are the perfect addition to your collection! While these follow the same scope and sequence as my decodable books resource, the stories are not the same.
This resource contains 60 decodable passages that align with a research-based systematic phonics scope and sequence. Skills include short vowel CVC, blends, digraphs, CVCe, vowel teams, r-controlled vowels, and diphthongs. Explicit lesson plans for each passage are provided for the teacher with activities for before, during, and after reading to strengthen phonics skills. Differentiate for student needs by using the two versions of student printables and audio recording for each passage. Using these passages and lesson plans, students will reread the decodable text to build fluency, discuss the text to build comprehension skills and write about the passage to apply and transfer their phonics skills to their writing.

We started using these in the beginning of November, and I am SO sad that I did not have this at the beginning of the year!! Not only are my kids gaining confidence in their reading, but they are having mini light bulbs going off realizing they really can apply our phonics skill and READ!!! By far one of the best purchases this year. I can not wait to use it all year long, and plan it out a little better next year!! Thank you!

My students and I love these. A lot of practice in a small amount of time. They were very engaged and felt like they could finally read. I’m also sending home as extra practice.

This resource is exactly what I was looking for to help my students with their decoding skills. Worth every penny! Telling all my colleagues about it. Thank you so much!

I love theses comprehension passages. They are easy to use-even if I have a sub. I add PA and encoding. Thanks!

Thank you for creating these decodable passages … I purchased the bundle after trying out your freebie sample. Today I used two of the CVC passages with 2 of my groups … they loved it and the blending lines is just what I needed for them. I purchased the professional book you mentioned in your video, so that I can extend my learning 🙂 Thanks!
Sara C. –
I was happy to find these decodable passages because it is so hard to find material for the students to read that is truly decodable. Thanks!

I am enjoying implementing this resource into my small group time. It lends itself well to my district’s curriculum and I love having supplemental resources that help my students practice the skills we are working on, although this could be used alone and still be extremely effective! Thank you for creating this!
