Teach Kindergarten students to spell with these Science of Reading-aligned, NO PREP, weekly Word Study Units.  This YEAR LONG word study resource includes a phonics scope and sequence, master word study list, word study practice activities, weekly assessments, editable templates, family letters and MORE!  It gives students practice with word recognition, vocabulary, phonics AND spelling!

Updated 8/23: Mini units added for grapheme ck, suffix -s, and double final consonants (FLOSS rule)

Word study units are different from traditional spelling units.  Instead of giving students a list of words to memorize each week, these word study units focus on a specific phonics skill.  Students are given explicit instruction on the phonics pattern and then have activities throughout the week that allow them to practice the phonics skill, and investigate and discover the patterns in words.

    I really appreciate the fact that it is editable. Our sight word list doesn’t always match all kindergarten, so it is nice that I can just go in and change those sight word weeks and not have to worry about creating my own. I love that the spelling homework is simple and will help them learn how to spell each word family.

    If the editable errors are fixed in this bundle it would be great. Would love to have the capability to change font. The font for some letters are not easy for students to trace, would like the capability to chose font. (Example: how the “a” looks is not kindergarten friendly.) Also, the words you enter on the template are not the the right font size on the tworksheet so the worksheet has small words when they should be bigger and one word might be large and the next spelling word is small. Hoping this issue gets fixed soon so I can better use this bundle.
