More About This Resource
These differentiated Write the Room decodable sentence activities give kindergarten, first and second grade students practice reading and writing words that contain targeted phonics skills.
⭐️ SAVE 20% on the Yearlong Bundle here! ⭐️
Each sentence is a phonics-based controlled text sentence that contains target phonics skill words, previously taught phonics skill words, and irregular high-frequency words. The science of reading shows us that the connection between what our students learn in phonics and what they read & write is imperative for building a strong foundation in early reading!
In this activity, students move around the room with their recording sheet to read & write decodable sentences. There are 2 differentiated versions of each sentence that can be hung side by side throughout the classroom. Level one sentences follow a 1st grade phonics scope & sequence and Level two sentences follow a 2nd grade phonics scope & sequence. Students are taught to record the version of the sentence they can decode. They must also match each sentence to the correct picture on their recording sheet as a self check for decoding skills.
This resource includes:
- 100 decodable sentences

What a great idea to incorporate social studies and science into a movement activity as well as sentence practice. And the sentences make a story in the end. All differentiated as well. Genius! love love love these! I hope the students do also! Just bought clipboards to use with this activity.

Love this! I use these to help with handwriting, copying, and just being able to see what a sentence should look like. I have my students read them then write the sentence with capitals, finger spaces, neat handwriting, and punctuation.
