More About This Resource
The science of reading shows that mapping words can promote orthographic mapping and strengthen phoneme-grapheme associations to create strong readers! Using these research-based Word Mapping resources and activities, students connect the speech sounds (phonemes) of a word to the letters or letter combinations (graphemes). This process of phoneme-grapheme word mapping will help students permanently store words in their sight word memory.
Use these science of reading-aligned word mapping activities for whole group instruction, targeted small group instruction and/or as a meaningful literacy center activity.

“I absolutely LOVE this resource. It allows me to tailor small-group instruction around specific skills. This can be done at the small group table with a teacher, or independently as a small-group task. Once students get the routine down it’s a low-prep way to differentiate. Great resource!”

This is a great resource. I like it so much that I bought it twice! Once on TpT and once here! Oops! I find it really useful to use with small groups of students who are needing extra practice. Thanks for creating such a great resource!

I was looking for a resource that met my needs. This resource is perfect and is aligned with the science of reading! I love that I can use this resource with my students during reading interventions as well as my students in my afternoon kinder class! I love the clipart too!! Thank you for creating such great resources that supplement new phonics skills that also target phonological skills too!

I purchased this resource to support the application of some of our phonemic awareness activities to reading and writing. This has been a game-changer! I’m overjoyed when I see students now independently ‘tapping’ the words that they are trying to write. Like many of Christina’s resources, they are really interconnected, and my students use these activities well in conjunction with our classroom sound wall. They especially love it when the we use the Poppits at our word-mapping centre. Thanks!
