More About This Resource
These differentiated wrote the room decodable sentence activities give kindergarten, first and second grade students practice reading and writing words that contain targeted phonics skills.
⭐️ SAVE 20% on the Yearlong Bundle here! ⭐️
Each sentence is a phonics-based controlled text sentence that contains target phonics skill words, previously taught phonics skill words, and irregular high-frequency words. The science of reading shows us that the connection between what our students learn in phonics and what they read & write is imperative for building a strong foundation in early reading!
In this activity, students move around the room with their recording sheet to read & write decodable sentences. There are 2 differentiated versions of each sentence that can be hung side by side throughout the classroom. Level one sentences follow a 1st grade phonics scope & sequence and Level two sentences follow a 2nd grade phonics scope & sequence. Students are taught to record the version of the sentence they can decode. They must also match each sentence to the correct picture on their recording sheet as a self check for decoding skills.
This resource includes:
- 100 total decodable sentences

I used only the easier sentences in my kindergarten classroom. I loved this because it offered more than just writing a single word for my higher students.

My students love to write the room. This is a fantastic way to get them writing more and as a way for them to self assess their reading skills.
